These photographs document the visit of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip to Washington, D.C. and Virginia, in October 1957. Subject matter includes: President Dwight David Eisenhower Greeting the Queen as she steps off the plane at Washington National Airport; First Lady Mamie Eisenhower Greeting the Queen at the White House; Secretary of State John Foster Dulles shaking hands with the Queen as she arrives at the Pan American Union dinner; the Queen visiting and accepting gifts from young patients at Children's Hospital in Washington; the Queen and Prince Philip leaving the "Susan Constant", the replica ship of the English Virginia Company of 1606-07, at Jamestown, Virginia; and two side-by-side head shots of the Queen. All in black and white with a gloss finish, two of which have faded to a sepia-toned look, three are vertical views, three are horizontal views, five with teletype press releases glued to the reverse, the latter photo missing its release, measuring 178 mm x 232 mm each, the images free of cracking and wear.
