An 1801 British Battle of Copenhagen Victory Medal

White metal, obverse illustrating Justice, a downward-pointing sword in her right hand, holding the scales of justice in her left hand, a compass on a stand beside her, the portraits of "H. NELSON" (Horatio Nelson) leaning against the foot of the stand, an anchor and book in the foreground, with a ship on the horizon, surrounded by the inscription "MARITIME JUSTICE AND BRITISH VALOR.", reverse illustrating the Battle of Copenhagen with ships on the sound, the city and its forts, inscribed "PASSED.THE.SOUND.AND.DEFEATED.Y.DANISH.FLEET.MAR. 30" below, 38.8 mm, faded museum mark in black ink on the edge, bruised, light contact, better than very fine.

Footnote: The Battle of Copenhagen was an engagement which saw a British fleet under the command of Admiral Sir Hyde Parker fight and strategically defeat a Danish-Norwegian fleet anchored just off Copenhagen on April 2, 1801. Vice Admiral Horation Nelson led the main attack.
