2 Clasps - VITTORIA, ORTHES (GEORGE HARWOOD, 15th HUSSARS,). Instituted in 1847. Naming is officially impressed in large capitals. In silver, engraver marked "W. WYON" (William Wyon) on the obverse, measuring 36 mm in diameter, bruised, edge nicks, contact marks overall, replacement ribbon, near very fine.

The Military General Service Medal 1793-1814 was instituted in 1847 and was awarded for service in the army, from 1793 to 1814, as indicated by the clasp(s) awarded, numbering twenty-four: Egypt, Maida, Roleia, Vimiera, Sahagan, Benevente, Sahagan and Benevente, Corunna, Martinique, Talavera, Guadaloupe, Busaco, Barossa, Fuentes D'Onor, Albuhera, Java, Ciudad Rodrigo, Badajor, Salamanca, Fort Detroit, Chateauguay, Chrystler's Farm, Vittoria, Pyrenees, St. Sebastian, Nivelle, Nive, Orthes, Toulouse.  
2. George Harwood is listed on page 78 of The Military General Service Roll 1793-1814, edited by A.L.T. Mullen and published by the London Stamp Exchange in 1990, as having served with 15th (The King's) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons (Hussars) and entitled to the Military General Service Medal with Vittoria and Orthes clasps. It also notes that he was pensioned on November 21, 1821.
