Instituted December 15, 1854 by General Order. In silver, rim impressed P. BOYLE. 50TH REGT. Three clasps ALMA, INKERMANN and SEBASTOPOL, swivel suspension with original ribbon, large knock to 2 o’clock rim, light bruising, dark patina, in near very fine condition.
Footnote: The 50th (the Queen’s Own) Regiment of Foot sailed to Varna from Malta in June of 1854 for service in the Crimean War. The regiment fought at the Battle of Alma in September 1854, the Battle of Inkermann in November 1854 and the Siege of Sevastopol in the winter of 1854. Following the war, the regiment left the Crimean Peninsula in May 1856. P. Boyle served with the 50th Regiment of Foot. He died 29 November 1854.
