A Canada General Service Medal to the 1st Administrative Battalion
A Canada General Service Medal to the 1st Administrative Battalion - 1 Clasp - FENIAN RAID 1866 (Sgt. A.A. McCulloch. 1st. Adm. Bn.). Naming is officially impressed, with the "t" of "Sgt." impressed over the originally impressed "e". Original ribbon, very dark patina, better than extremely fine.Footnote: Andrew Archibald McCullock served with the 1st Administrative Battalion in Montreal, Quebec. He was one of twenty-two members of the unit, half of which were officers, and included men such as George W. Stephen (later President of the Canadian Pacific Railway), and William W. Molson of Molson Breweries fame. McCullock's name is spelled incorrectly on the medal, the last letter of his surname should be "k" and not "h". He is listed on page 143 of the "Canada General Service Medal Roll, 1866-70" by John Thyen. He is listed in the Canada General Service Medal Register, the page appearing on the Library and Archives Canada website: http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/military-heritage/military-medals-1812-1969/Pages/image.aspx?Image=e008683210&Ecopy=e008683210
