What's a max bid?

1879 (2236. Pte J. WIXON. 2/4th FOOT.). Naming is engraved in italic capitals. Dark patina, edge nicks, bruised, frayed and lightly soiled original ribbon suspended from a hanger with pinback, better than very fine.

Footnote: Jabez Wixon was born in 1856 in Wombridge, Wellington, Salop, England. He signed his Attestation Paper as a Private (2236) for General Service with the 11th Brigade, 4th Regiment of Foot on November 2, 1878 in Manchester, England, at the age of 22 years and 8 months, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was not married, that his religion was Church of England and that his trade was that of Joiner. He had been recruited by Sergeant William Tilton, Pensioner on the Recruiting Staff on October 31st. Private Wixon was transferred to Fort Widley in Portsmouth on the 6th and would service with both the 1st and 2nd Battalions. He was discharged from active service on March 18, 1880, credited with having served one year and 137 days (November 2, 1878 to March 18, 1880) at Netley. It was noted in his records that "his conduct has been good. He is not in possession of any good conduct badges" and that he was "not in possession of a school certificate". It also states that he was "Never Wounded". (C:240)
