What's a max bid?

Footnote: Private Alex Stephen is shown on the roll of the 34 man Brooklin Rifle Company, 34th Battalion and is listed on page 156 of the "Canada General Service Medal Roll, 1866-70" by John Thyen, entitled to the Fenian Raid 1866 clasp. He is documented on the roll as having been posted to Fort Erie and Port Colborne, Ontario, from June 2 to 18, 1866, with an "Attack Expected".
