Three-piece construction, convex, Order of the Garter insignia in silver gilt with crimson red and navy blue enamels, the underlying silver background with a series on horizontal rules and visible through the four voided areas, the insignia measuring 41.2 mm (w) x 65.3 mm (h) and mounted to a 97 mm (w) x 102 mm (h) eight-pointed silver star base, the star with multi-faceted rays, affixed via four lugs and pin to a die-stamped fire gilt bronze base, the star placed within a large pebbled central oval and surrounded by the collar of the Order, the collar itself within a large open-ended wreath composed of a branch of laurel leaves on the left and a branch of oak leaves and acorns on the right, the image of Saint George slaying the dragon featured at the junction of the branches at the base, the plate surmounted by the St. Edward crown, measuring 165 mm (w) x 180 mm (h), all five screwposts intact, each with its nut and washer present, scratch test marks evident on the reverse, a beautiful and impressive plate, extremely fine.
