What's a max bid?

United Kingdom. A Military Cross with Second Award Bar, Cased

Instituted in 1914. In frosted silver, bearing the monogram of King George V in the centre on the obverse, unnamed, measuring 43.8 mm (w) x 48 mm (h) inclusive of its integral ring, second award bar affixed to its original ribbon, contact marks present on the obverse, scratches evident on the reverse, better than very fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, violet rippled-look exterior, the lid bearing the Royal crown within a thin border in embossed gold-coloured ink, inside lid in white satin, padded and marked "ROYAL MINT" with the Mint's insignia, base with a recessed medal bed and slotted for a pinback (not present on this ribbon) in off-white felt, measuring 73.5 mm (w) x 131 (h) x 21.8 mm (h), exhibiting light soiling on the inside lid and the medal bed, case also better than very fine.

 

Footnote: The Military Cross was instituted on December 28, 1914 by King George V and is awarded for gallant and distinguished services in action, the recipient entitled to use the post-nominal letters"MC".
