United Kingdom. A Royal Victorian Order, Grand Cross Breast Star
Instituted April 21, 1896. In silver, an eight point star with clusters of faceted rays, the obverse medallion with a white enamelled Maltese cross, the centerpiece featuring the cypher VRI on red enamel background, surrounded by a blue enamel ring inscribed with the Order’s motto “VICTORIA”, the central medallion is surmounted by a crown with red and green enamel details, the reverse of the star features a single vertical pin with two rivets on the base securing the cross, the reverse is numbered 693, measures 87.3mm (w) x 86.9mm (h), weighs 77.1 grams, enamel damage to blue enamel ring, lovely patina, a lovely star in very fine condition.
