The book begins with an Index and Compiler's Preface, followed by the Casualty Roll for the Indian Mutiny. The roll is documented under three basic headings: 1. British Army (54 units - including Staff, Dragoon Guards, Hussars, Regiments of Foot, Rifle Brigades, Royal Artillery, Royal Engineers, Military Train, Naval Brigade); 2. Bengal Army (109 units - including Light Cavalry, European Fusiliers, Native Infantry, plus twenty-seven other units); 3.
