Hardcover, the text and the Royal Engineers Library insignia on the spine in gold-coloured ink, entitled "Catalogue of the Royal Engineers Corps Library at the Horse Guards, Whitehall, London", published by the Institution of Royal Engineers, printed in Great Britain by Mackays Limited of Chatham in 1929. It begins with a Preface, followed by Chronicles of the Royal Engineers Corps Libraries, plus Bye-Laws, Rules and Regulations, along with a Plan of Library (Group A - Top Floor: Service Subjects Generally; Group B - Lower Floor: Scientific and Technical Subjects Generally; Group C - Middle (Platform) Floor: Miscellaneous Subjects). The bulk of the book, entailing pages 1 to 434, contains the Subjects Catalogue, arranged alphabetically, listing the various topics covered and the publications available for perusing at the Royal Engineers Corp Library at the Horse Guards, Whitehall, London. It concludes with 87 pages of an Index of Authors' Names, Etc. The book contains 552 pages of text only, printed in black ink, on an off-white paper stock, bookseller's label affixed to the inside front cover, the title page with the original towner's name and dated August 1929 in black ink, measuring 140 mm (w) x 215 mm (h) x 40 mm (d). It exhibits age discolouration on the top of the pages, with foxing evident on the sides of the pages, on the inside front and back covers, along with a few of the pages adjacent to the covers, the exterior with very light wear. A terrific library reference guide from a bygone era and a unique Royal Engineers collectible. Very fine.
