An elaborate copy of “History of the Turko-Russian War” (“or “Historical Narrative of the Turko-Russian War”), constructed of a solid wooden binding with a faux black leather exterior liner, the cover bearing an embossed gilt title, surrounded by gilded and embossed figures and symbolism of both sides, the interior retaining all 496 paginated interior pages detailing the history of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878, with examinations of its root causes and the geopolitical background of the Balkans during the closing decades of the Ottoman Empire, as well as a detailed description of the fighting, supplemented by an array of full-colour illustrations, compiled and written by Joseph Smith and published by Adam & Company of London and Newcastle upon Tyne, measuring 20 cm (w) x 27.5 cm (h), with age-appropriate wear and material fatigue evident to both the exterior liner and binding and with some discolouration of the paper visible, in overall very fine condition.
