Greece, Kingdom. An Order of the Phoenix, Grand Cross, c.1930
(Τάγμα του Φοίνικος). Established 13 May 1926 by the republican government of the Second Hellenic Republic. Type I. 1926-1935 Issue. In silver gilt with white enamel featuring the letters “E-T-T-A” in Byzantine uncial on each arm of the cross and a 5-pointed star on 12 o'clock arm, bronze gilt Phoenix on obverse centre, measuring 58.55 mm (w) x 61.38 mm (h), on original deep yellow/orange sash with narrow black borders, very fine. Accompanied by the star of the order, two-piece construction in silver with silver gilt Phoenix insignia mounted to an eight-pointed star base, measuring 84.37 mm (w) x 84.54 mm (h), vertical pin assembly flanked by dual stays, toned, very fine.
