Two-piece construction, with an independent small crown placed on the obverse centrepiece, in bronze gilt, unmarked, measuring 35.3 mm (w) x 61.3 mm (h), greening/spotting evident on both sides, original ribbon with pinback, better than very fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, gray pebbled exterior, marked "M" on the lid, inside lid in white satin and maker marked "SPINK & SON Ltd. LONDON", base housing a medal bed in white felt, snap closure, measuring 53.7 mm (w) x 116 mm (h) x 17 mm (d), the white felt exhibiting light soiling and discolouration, case very fine.
Footnote: The Royal Order of George I was instituted on January 16, 1915 by King Constantine I. It was discontinued by the state in 1973 and Replaced by the Order of Honour, but continues as a dynastic order of the former Greek royal family. It was/is awarded to those who had distinguished themselves for the cause of the nation, in five grades, in military and civil divisions, plus a medal in three classes.
