Greece, Kingdom. An Order of the Redeemer, Knight’s Cross in Gold
(Τάγμα του Σωτήρος). Instituted May 20, 1833. In 18K Gold, a white Maltese cross with segment of green enamelled wreath in each quadrant, the obverse medallion bearing a portrait of Jesus Christ, surrounded by a blue enamel ring inscribed Η ΔΕΞΙΑ ΣΟΥ ΧΕΙΡ ΚΥΡΙΕ ΔΕΔΟΞΑΣΤΑΙ ΕΝ ΙΣΧΥΙ (Thy right hand, O Lord, is majestic in strength), the reverse medallion presents a white cross on a blue field, surrounded by a blue enamel ring inscribed Η ΕΝ ΑΡΓΕΙ ΔΕΘΝΙΚΗ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩN ΕΥΝEΛΕΥΣΙΣ ΑΩΚΟ (The fourth national assembly of the Hellenes at Argos – 1829), the cross is surmounted by a large Gold crown, measures 34.5mm (w) x 56.0mm (h – inclusive of integral crown), weighs 14.0 grams, worn on original ribbon, enamels intact with one small area of repair on reverse inscription ring, lovely portrait details, in extremely fine condition.
