In bronze, obverse illustrating St. George on horseback, holding the reins in his left hand, his right arm raised and holding a sword, in order to slay the dragon to the right of the horse, with medallions on either side, a woman praying below the medallion at the right, inscribed "GEORGIUS EQVITUM PATRONUS." (St. Georges, the Patron of Knights) above and "VIRTUTE PARANTUR" (With Courage They are Prepared) below, with a floral scroll at the base, reverse illustrating a ship under sail upon a tempestuous sea, with Christ and his apostles aboard the ship, Christ rebuking the wind and the waves (Matthew 8:23-27), allowing for the calming of the storm, St. Jan Nepomucký at the top among the clouds, inscribed "IN TEMPESTATE SECURITAS." (In the Storm is Safety) above and "AMORIS PRÆMIUM" (The Reward of Love) below, with a floral scroll bearing an "R" within a shield at the base, also marked with an anchor flanked by "H.M.A" at the left and "1914" at the right, measuring 60.5 mm in diameter, edge nick, near extremely fine.

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society. His knowledge and passion for history and awards is evident in this meticulously compiled collection that is now available in its entirety for the first time exclusively on eMedals.com.
