Hungary, Kingdom. A Pair of Eastern Front Commemorative Trench Art Brass Shells
A pair of Eastern Front commemorative trench art brass shells, including a large and exceptionally well-detailed case, featuring a ribbed exterior circumference, topped by an inscription of “EMLEK A KELETI FRONTRÓL” (“I REMEMBER THE EASTERN FRONT”) on a dimpled background circumscribing the top, the lower portion of the shell bearing an etched date of “1942. IX/.26.”, the base bearing a manufacture date of “1938” and calibre markings, measuring 90 mm (w) x 225 mm (h), in extremely fine condition, and; a narrow shell, similarly featuring a ribbed exterior, topped by a dimpled upper portion featuring raised flowers and leaves, the base bearing a manufacture date of “1943” and calibre markings, measuring 58 mm (w) x 260 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
