Hungary, Kingdom. A Rare National Front Fighters Association Bugle and Standard
A rare and extremely well-preserved Országos Frontharcos Szövetség (National Front Fighters Association) bugle and standard set, the former constructed of polished brass, featuring a functional integral mouthpiece, with the upper bar wrapped in a twisted and rolled threaded cord to provide a comfortable handle grip, with each end completing in gold bullion wire tassels, the top bearing an engraved inscription of “ORSZÁGOS FRONTHARCOS SZÖVETSÉG”, circumscribing the organization’s logo which consisting of a central Cross Pattée overlaid by a Stahlhelm and sword, flanked by dates “1914-1918”, otherwise unmarked, measuring 375 mm (l) x 220 mm (h), soldered to the bottom is a bar retaining a fully-intact standard flag of multi-piece construction, consisting of panels of heavy red, white, and green cotton-blended textile securely stitching together along the seams, lined on the left, right, and bottom edges with gold bullion wire fringes culminating in tassels of identical construction at the bottom corners, with each side overlaid by an additional National Front Fighters Association emblems carefully hand-painted onto white cotton-blended backers, unmarked, measuring 300 mm (w) x 315 mm (h), the bugle demonstrating only minor incidental denting and scratching and with slight soiling visible to the standard, a rare and complete example of Hungarian First World War veterans’ organization memorabilia in extremely fine condition.
