A Grand Cross sash badge in silver gilt with four white enameled arms, each with green enameled bordering, obverse centre with green laurel surround with silver gilt Lorraine Cross on crown, reverse in silver gilt, measuring 51 mm (w) x 56 mm (h - inclusive of horizontally pierced ball suspension), knock to 9 o'clock arm, minor green enamel loss, on full period green sash, extremely fine. Accompanied by Grand Cross Star consisting of an eight pointed hand detailed silver badge, multi rayed, with white enameled cross with green boarder, centre with green laurels and red enamel background presenting silver gilt Lorraine Cross on crown, reverse with pin assembly, measuring 88.5 mm (w) x 88 mm (h), with minor hairline cracks to 12 o'clock arm, otherwise near extremely fine. In original case of issue, wood framed wrapped in red leather with gold embossed detailing, removable medal bed, missing dual swing hooks, otherwise very fine.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
