Institution Date: May 5, 1764. In silver gilt with green, white and red enamels, with a crown of St. Stephen suspension, measuring at approximately 42mm (w) x 75mm (h) and weighing 36.9 grams, with period ribbon, in presentation case, in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: This installment of the Order was re-instituted in 2011, and it is a continuation of the Royal Hungarian Order of St. Stephen that was originally founded as part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1764. This Order is considered to be the highest honour awarded by the Republic of Hungary, and it is conferred to recognize extraordinary merit and outstanding services that have brought international acclaim to the Republic of Hungary.
