A pair of Eastern Front trench art brass shells, including a Hungarian-made case, the exterior bearing a central etched Hungarian coat of arms, above an inscription of “OROSZ ORSZAGBOL” (“FROM RUSSIA 1942”), below an inscription of “EMLÉKÜL MARISKÁMNAK” (“HE REMEMBERS”), flanked on each side by laurel branches, the base with calibre marks, measuring 45 mm (w) x 265 mm (h), in extremely fine condition, and; a Slovak-made shell, the exterior bearing a central floral design, topped by an etched inscription of “PAMIATKA Z RUSKA” (“MEMENTO FROM RUSSIA”), a Slovak Cross, and a date of “1943”, above a partially-legible inscription, the base bearing additional etched inscriptions and calibre marks, measuring 58 mm (w) x 268 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
