Instituted May 5, 1764. A collector’s copy, most likely of Rothe manufacture. In silver gilt, a green enamelled cross pattée, the obverse medallion presenting a white enamelled Hungarian cross on three green enamelled hills with a red background and an M and T on either side of the cross, surrounded by a white enamelled ring inscribed PUBLICUM MERITORUM PRAEMIUM, the reverse medallion presents a white enamelled field with the inscription STO. ST. RI. AP., surrounded by a green enamelled laurel wreath, the badge is surmounted by a large Hungarian crown, measures 44.60mm (w) x 76.77mm (h – inclusive of cross adorned crown suspension), weighs 53.6 grams (including ribbon), worn on a correct neck ribbon via large elongated suspension loop, indecipherable mark on suspension loop, small enamel flaws and chips in the arms, minor gilt wear, overall a collector’s copy in near extremely fine condition.
Contained in a hardshell case of wood and red leatherette, white silk interior lid and black velvet medalbed with recessed top half for neck ribbon, measures 88mm (w) x 156mm (h) x 40.6mm (d), hinge and clasp functional, very minor wear, in extremely fine condition.
