In bronze, obverse illustrating a spread-winged right facing eagle with various armaments below, inscribed "2a ARMATA" and " "OLTRE LA META" " above, and engraver marked "AFFER" (Costantino Affer, 1906-1987), reverse illustrating a winged female warrior in flight, a sword in her right hand and a shield in her left hand, flying over the Italian countryside, measuring 35 mm (w) x 39 mm (h) inclusive of its integral suspension, very light contact, original ribbon, near extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, pebbled exterior, inside lid in white cloth and padded, black felt recessed medal bed, measuring 72 mm (w) x 122 mm (h) x 22.7 mm (d), wear spot evident on the the bottom, case better than very fine.
Footnote: During the Second World War, the 2nd Army was the Italian (Complex Major) Great Unit in charge of the activities of control and garrison of the occupied or annexed territories of the former Kingdom of Yugoslavia, from 1940 to 1943.
