Italy, Kingdom. A Fine Crimea Campaign Miniature Award Chain

(Miniaturenkette). A chain of six miniature medals including a Medal for Military Valour. (Medaglia al valore militare). Instituted on 26 March 1833. A round silver medal, measuring 11.85 mm in diameter, and in very fine condition. A Military Order of Savoy. (Ordine Militare di Savoia). Instituted on 14 August 1815. A cross urdy with white-enamelled arms, with green enamelled laurel and oak wreaths between the arms, the obverse centre (missing in this example) presents a red enamelled medallion bearing the gilt-edged white enamelled cross of Savoy within a gilt-edged ring inscribed AL MERITO MILITARE in gilt lettering, the reverse with a circular central red enamelled medallion bearing gilt crossed swords and the date 1855, with the letters V and E on either side for Vittorio Emanuele, measuring 14.23 mm (w) x 16.00 mm (h), and in good condition. A United Kingdom Crimea Medal, consisting of a silver disk, with the obverse presenting a diademed head of Queen Victoria and the legend VICTORIA REGINA with the date 1854 below, the reverse presents a depiction of a standing Roman warrior about to receive a laurel crown from a flying figure of victoria, with the word CRIMEA appearing on the left, measuring 11.32 mm in diameter, and in very fine condition. An Order of the Crown of Italy. (Ordine della Corona d’Italia). Instituted on 20 February 1868. A four-armed enamelled white cross, with interwoven ornamental laces in each quadrant, the obverse centre presents a superimposed golden Italian royal crown, over an enamelled dark blue background, the reverse presents a superimposed coat of arms of the Italian Kingdom with red, white, and black enamels, measuring 12.62 mm (w) x 13.92 mm (h), and in very fine condition. An Order of St. Maurice and Lazarus. (Ordine dei Santi Maurizio e Lazzaro). Instituted in 1434. A four-pointed star base, each point with nine faceted rays, the obverse presents a white enamelled Shamrock Cross with green enamelled fans in each quadrant, reverse plain, measuring 15.14 mm (w) x 17.22 mm (h), presenting moderate loss of enamels on obverse, and in overall good condition. An Italian Independence Medal. (Medaglia per le guerre di Indipendenza e l’Unita d’italia). Instituted on 4 March 1865. A round silver medal, the obverse presents the left-facing bust of Victor Emmanuel II, circumscribed by the words VITTORIO EMA. II RB D’ITALIA., the reverse presents an allegorical figure of Italy standing turned left with a spear and shield of Savoy, surrounded by the inscription GUERRE P. L’INDIPENDENZA E L’UNITA D’ITALIA (WAR FOR INDEPENDENCE AND UNIT OF ITALY), measuring 12.60 mm in diameter, and in very fine condition.
