A silver medal, obverse featuring the rightward facing profile of King Victor Emmanuel, surrounded by the inscription VITTORIO EMANUELE III RE D'ITALIA, the reverse is inscribed LIBIA surrounded by a laurel wreath, measures 32.20mm (w) x 37.62mm (h – inclusive of integral suspension bar), weighs 16.1 grams (inclusive of ribbon and bars), worn on a replacement ribbon with 1911 and 1912 bars, contact marks to edges, very fine condition.
Footnote: This Medal was founded by King Victor Emmanuel III to reward all colonial and Italian military personnel and civilians that had rendered service during the Italo-Turkish War against the Ottoman Empire from 1911-1912.To be eligible for the Medal, the individual had to have participated in combat and operations against the Ottoman forces between September 29, 1911, and October 19, 1912.
