Italy, Kingdom. A National Fascist Party Member’s Overseas Cap, by Old England

An extremely well-preserved National Fascist Party member’s overseas cap, constructed of a heavy, high-quality black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by a fold-down side panel which is trimmed along the top edge with a black rayon tresse. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia consisting of a black wool backer bearing a hand-embroidered gold bullion wire National Fascist Party (Partito Nazionale Fascista) insignia in the form of a raised fasces. The interior is fully lined with an intact brown leather sweatband, secured in place along the edge with machine stitching, and maker marked “OLD ENGLAND, BOLOGNA” (a famous purveyor of British-style clothing and accessories, with a Bologna location in operation from 1906-1941). It is also encompassed by a white rayon liner with a silky texture, bearing an additional embossed mark on the crown. It measures approximately 272 mm (l) x 115 mm (h) when folded flat. There are minor signs of fatigue evident to the insignia, along with slight soiling of the interior liner, but the cap is in an overall extremely fine condition.
