In bronze, obverse illustrating two nurses, one standing and one sitting, attending to a wounded soldier, with a large tent and a group of soldiers in the background, inscribed in Latin "INSIGNIS CHARITAS" (Capital Charity) below and marked with the engraver's interlocking initials "GO", reverse illustrating a pelican feeding two of its young above the Italian coat-of-arms, inscribed in Italian "ALL' OPERA APOSTOLICA DELLA SANITA MILITARE E DELLA CROCE ROSSA ITALIANA PIV CHE L'AMMIRAZIONE ED IL PLAVSO LA RICONOSCENZA DEGLI VOMINI LIBIA 1911-12" and engraver marked "M NELLI-INC.", measuring 60 mm in diameter, spotting and discolouration evident on the obverse, better than very fine.

Footnote: The Italo-Turkish or Turco-Italian War (Turkish: Trablusgarp Savaşı, "Tripolitanian War"; also known in Italy as Guerra di Libia, "Libyan War") was fought between the Kingdom of Italy and the Ottoman Empire, from September 29, 1911 to October 18, 1912. As a result of this conflict, Italy captured the Ottoman Tripolitania Vilayet (province), of which the main sub-provinces (sanjaks) were Fezzan, Cyrenaica, and Tripoli itself. These territories together formed what became known as Italian Libya.
