(Medaglia delle campagne d’Africa). Instituted 1894. Circular medal in bronze, obverse bearing a right facing portrait of King Umberto I, the reverse inscribed with “CAMPAGNE D’AFRICA” (AFRICA CAMPAIGN) encircled by a laurel wreath tied with a ribbon at the bottom, maker’s mark “SPERANZA” located on obverse by portrait, measuring 31.60 mm (w) x 36.80 mm (h), on a red ribbon with two blue stripes. Accompanied by two clasps, the first inscribed with “CAMPAGNE D’AFRICA 1895-96” (AFRICA CAMPAIGN 1895-96), the second inscribed with “CAMPAGNE D’AFRICA 1897” (AFRICA CAMPAIGN 1897), measuring 38.96 mm (w) x 6.02 mm (h), fine.
