Italy, Kingdom. An Italian Fascist Youth (FGC) Member’s Fez
This is an extremely well-preserved Fasci Giovanili di Combattimento (FGC) member’s fez, constructed of fine black doeskin wool. The top of the fez is adorned with a tassel-style decoration in the form of two rolled black threaded cords bearing an array of braided black threads which hang over the sides of the fez. The top is also adorned with a machine-embroidered black ribbon that spans the circumference. The peak of the fez is adorned with an FGC insignia, constructed of magnetic metal and measuring 35 mm (w) x 70 mm (h), depicting a fasces overlaid with a sword and shield along with the initials “FGC”. The interior bears a 37 mm-wide brown leather sweatband securely held in place by a row of black machine stitching. The fez is unmarked and measures approximately 190 mm in diameter, with a height of 105 mm. While minor soiling and fatigue is evident, it is in an otherwise extremely fine condition.
