Italy, Kingdom. An Order of St. Maurice and St. Lazarus, Knight, in Gold, c. 1900
(Ordine dei Santi Maurizio e Lazzaro). Established in 1572 by Pope Gregory XIII. A double-sided badge in 18k Gold, consisting of an enamelled white four-armed cross with three trefoil-ended arms, quadrants displaying a ball-tipped finely enamelled bright green Maltese cross also in 18k Gold, measuring 39mm (w) x 40.9mm (h – inclusive of integral ring), weighs 9.6 grams (including ribbon), cracks and wear to white enamel, sections of replacement enamels visible, remains in near very fine condition.
