Italy, Tuscany. An Order of Saint Joseph, Knight in Gold
Instituted March 19, 1807 by Grand Duke Ferdinand III. In 18K Gold, a white enamelled five armed cross with ball finials, three red enamelled rays in each quadrant, the obverse medallion featuring a standing Saint Joseph surrounded by a red enamelled ring inscribed UBIQUE SIMILIS (Everywhere The Same), the reverse medallion features the inscription S.J. F 1807, surrounded by a red enamelled ring, the cross is surmounted by a crown, measures 38.9mm (w) x 57.6mm (h – including crown suspension), weighs 15.5 grams including original ribbon, enamels intact, in extremely fine condition.
