An Italian First World War Commemorative Medal 1915

Silvered bronze, obverse illustrating the bust of King Victor Emmanuel III, the Royal crown above his head, surrounded by the inscription "IL GUERREGGIANTE SOVRANO, UNITO ALLA SUA NAZIONE IN GUERRA PER I LORO DIRITTI", reverse inscribed "SOUVENIR DELLA GRANDE GUERRA", branches of palm leaves framing the date "1915" (the year Italy declared war on Austria-Hungary and entered the war on the side of the Allies: Britain, France and Russia) and inscribed "EUROPEA" below, 30.5 mm x 47.3 mm inclusive of its integral suspension, with ribbon, very light contact and surface wear, near extremely fine.
