Fabricated from a moss green wool on the exterior, featuring the classic high peak, the hidden wire frame giving definition to the shape of the cap, the upper edge trimmed in fine moss green wool covered piping. It has a 50 mm wide band in gold-coloured fine bullion wire, interlaced with three narrow stripes in silvered fine bullion wire around its circumference. There is a 73 mm (w) x 83.5 mm (h) 29th Field Artillery cap badge on the front in silvered and gold-coloured bullion wire, with the "29" on the central disk in bronze gilt, the insignia backed by a moss green wool base. The stiff visor is finished in black synthetic material, with a reinforcing strip in black stitched in place on the edge.
There is a black patent leather strap with dual adjustable sliders that runs across the front between the bronze buttons on either side, each of the buttons bearing the Field Artillery insignia. The underside of the visor is in a hunter green synthetic material, the sidewalls and dome lined in a champagne-coloured rayon. It incorporates a 47 mm wide sweatband in leather, the upper of which is finished in gray, the ends of which are held together via a champagne-coloured ribbon at the rear. The dome has a circular celluloid moisture shield stitched in place, under which the "UNIONE MILITARE ROMA" (Military Union, Rome) manufacturer's mark appears, with the Royal crowned Italian eagle above the mark. The Military Union was a company specializing in the supply of uniforms and accessories for the Italian armed forces. The cap measures 265 mm in width x 290 mm in depth x 120 mm in height, exhibiting scattered discoloration on the 29th Field Artillery cap badge, along with light crazing on the visor. It is of very fine quality manufacture and is free of mothing. Near extremely fine.
