A well-preserved oil-on-wood painting depicting Pietro Liberi’s classic Ponte dei Pugnia (Bridge of Fists), originally presented as an oil-on-canvas image. Hand-painted directly onto a wooden base, the scene consists of a simplified but recognizable rendering of the original image, depicting competing Venetian political factions engaging in a melee, with individuals being thrown into the water below. It is unsigned and riveted into a dark brown lacquered wooden frame with a ribbed and cascading obverse. The reverse is topped by a magnetic metal suspension loop and shows four hand-forged magnetic metal rivets which secure the image board in place. Measuring 59 cm (w) x 37 cm (h), both the image and frame demonstrate pitting consistent woodworm exposure. An early and high-quality reproduction of a classic image in very fine condition.
