Latvia, Republic. A Sapper Regiment Badge, c.1919
A Maltese cross of silvered bronze and multi-coloured enamels, the obverse centre bears “K 1919” superimposed on a shield of red and white enamels, on top is a rising sun with rays and an axe and shovel, the arms of the cross are white enamel and the 9, 12, and 3 o’clock arms each bear a single star, the reverse is plain and shows the attachment prongs of the obverse centre, with a screwback and plain plate, measuring 48.83 mm, very fine.
