Badge: multi-piece construction, in silver gilt with blue and white enamels, bearing three Gold stars on the obverse centrepiece, hallmarked with a head wearing the Latvian crown on the loop, measuring 45.7 mm (w) x 69.7 mm (h) inclusive of its wreath and integral ring suspension, intact enamels, traces of residue evident on the four white enamelled arms where they butt the reverse centrepiece, on a full-length original neck ribbon. Footnote: Order of the Three Stars is the highest civilian order awarded for meritorious service to Latvia, in national or local government, social, cultural or economic work. It was established in 1924 in remembrance of the founding of Latvia. Its motto is "Per aspera ad astra" (Through hardships to the stars). The Order is awarded as a Collar, along with five classes: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, and Knight, plus a Medal of Honour in three grades.
