A scarce and desirable order in silver gilt and enamels, hallmarked with the crowned female Latvian head, maker marked "V. MILLERS RIGA", marked ".875" (silver) and hallmarked on the reverse of the coat-of-arms suspension, measuring 43 mm x 63 mm inclusive of its coat-of-arms suspension, on original ribbon with safety pin attachment, intact enamels, better than extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, Latvian coat-of-arms on the lid, soiled recessed medal bed, scuffing evident on the exterior, case very fine.
Footnote: The Order of Vesthardus (AKA Order of Viesturs) is a Latvian state order founded in 1938, which fell into abeyance during the years of the Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic, but was re-established in 2004 in the Republic of Latvia. The order is named after the historical figure King Viesturs and is awarded in five classes.
