A Rare Second War Dutch “Oostkorps” N.A.D. Arm Badge
This rare N.A.D. (Nederlandse Arbeids Dienst) Badge is constructed of field grey/green wool, while the top is hand embroidered in black and golden threads (representing Dutch/Nederland’s N.A.D.), and below is hand embroidered “A.D.” in black threads; the entire badge is rimmed in black threads, and all sitting on top of dark green backing wool; fairly large badge, measures approx. 65mm x 84mm; in slightly worn condition; possibly an Officer’s example. Footnote: Dutch/Nederland’s N.A.D. was similar in organizational purpose and intent as the German R.A.D., except much smaller. The N.A.D. sent a corps of volunteers - the “Groupe Oost” or “Oostgroupe” van de N.A.D. (East corps of the N.A.D.) to serve alongside German R.A.D. units in the German rear in Russia in the spring of 1943; members wore distinctive cufftitle and this type of arm badge.
