Kruis voor Recht en Vrijheid. Instituted in 1951. In silvered bronze, measuring 40.2 mm (w) x 47 mm (h) inclusive of its laterally-pierced ball suspension, two wreathed sword clasps inscribed "KOREA 1950" and "2 KOREA 1950" affixed to its original ribbon, black felt support with pinback on the reverse, extremely fine.
Footnote: The Cross for Freedom and Justice was instituted on July 23, 1951. It was originally awarded for service in the Korean War (1950-1953), however, since July 13, 2002, it may be awarded for service in military operations in the interests of the Kingdom.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
