(Herdenkingskruis van het Nederlandse Rode Kruis 1940-1945). Instituted in 1945. In silvered bronze with red enamels, unmarked, measuring 40.5 mm (w) x 44.5 mm (h) inclusive of its laterally-pierced ball suspension, intact enamels, original ribbon with pinback, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Commemorative Cross of the Netherlands Red Cross 1940-1945 was issued to recognize service to the Netherlands Red Cross during the Second World War. It was awarded to all medical/Red Cross personnel for service in the Netherlands and the Dutch Colonies, between May 10, 1940 and May 5, 1945. Approximately 10,700 were produced, with only 1200 bearing a rare "INDONESIE 1945-1950" bar, established later as an addition for work in Indonesia.
