Netherlands, NSB. A Mussert Cross with Ribbon Bar
Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, consisting of a Maltese Cross with black and red enameled arms, the obverse with a central white enameled medallion bearing a gilt mobile swastika overlaid by a Wolfsangel, above oak leaf branches, the reverse with a central white medallion bearing a gilt inscription of “MUSSERT 1941”, topped by an inscription of “HOU EN TROU” (“STEADY AND TRUE”), above oak leaf branches, with crossed swords through the centerpiece, unmarked, measuring 37.94 mm (w) x 41.68 mm (h), weighing 25.8 grams (inclusive of ribbon), accompanied by its ribbon bar, constructed of zink with a horizontal pinback, pinned with gilt crossed swords, unmarked, measuring 30 mm in length, in overall extremely fine condition.
