A First War Period Norwegian Constitution Medal
Bronze, obverse illustrating a standing spread-winged angel, each hand holding wreaths of laurel leaves over the heads of two nude men, one with his right hand resting upon an anchor and holding a paddle in his left representing the navy under the angel's right hand, the other holding a fasces in his right hand and resting his left hand upon a shield representing the army under the angel's left hand, surrounded by the inscription "MED TAK OG HAEDERSPRIS VI SMYKKE DAEMAND DER VAENNET OM VOR LYKKE IGJENNEM KRIGENS TUNGE TID", dated "1914-1918" below and engraver marked "Iv.T.", reverse illustrating the crowned Norwegian coat-of-arms in the centre, dated "17de MAI 1920" (Norwegian Constitution Day) below, surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves, 31 mm, integral loop, extremely fine.
