In silvered bronze, obverse illustrating the right-facing bust of General Władysław Albert Anders, his head flanked by his birth date of "11.VIII.1892" at the left and his death date of "12.V.1970" at the right, inscribed "GEN. DYW. WŁADYSŁAW ANDERS" below, reverse illustrating Polish 2nd Corps soldiers in action at the Battle of Monte Cassino, with the Polish 2nd Corps insignia below the scene, surrounded by the inscription "MONTE CASSINO" above and "11-18 MAJA 1944" (May 11-18, 1944) below, measuring 69.7 mm in diameter, edge nick, bruised, better than very fine. In its plastic case of issue, with plastic inserts in both covers, measuring 83 mm (w) x 83 mm (h) x 14.5 mm (d), spotting evident on the bottom, case also better than very fine.
Footnote: Władysław Albert Anders (August 11, 1892 - May 12, 1970) was a general in the Polish Army and later in life a politician and prominent member of the Polish government-in-exile in London. The Polish 2nd Corps became a major tactical and operational unit of the Polish Armed Forces in the West. Anders commanded the Corps throughout the Italian Campaign, capturing Monte Cassino on May 18, 1944, later fighting on the Gothic Line and in the final spring offensive. Anders received numerous awards and decorations from Poland, as well as from other countries.
