Established in 1895. In silver, featuring a facing-left portrait of Queen Amelia of Portugal, the reverse featuring inscription CAMPANHAS DO ULTRAMAR (Overseas Campaign), along with stylized laurel branches, engraver's mark F. COSTA, measuring 32.28 mm (w) x 34.40 mm (h - inclusive of the screw loop suspension), toned silver, accompanied by original ribbon, extremely fine.
Footnote: The Queen Amelia Medal was established in 1895 in commemoration of successful overseas campaigns in India and Mozambique. It was later extended to recognise additional pacification campaigns in the Portuguese Empire, but it was discontinued when the First Portuguese Republic was established in 1910.
