(Ordem Real Militar de Avis). Instituted in the 12th century. Type II. 1895-1910 issue. Of fine English manufacture, a fine faceted silver star featuring hand etched gilt laurels and Gold and enamel centre, with finely enameled heart and cross affixed at 12 o'clock, measuring 66.92 mm (w) x 76.49 mm (h - inclusive of cross), reverse with pin assembly, extremely fine. Accompanied by case of issue, wooden framed, leather bound with velvet medal bed, maker marked on interior lid "Phillips. 31 Cockspur St. London.", very fine.
