A Rare Romanian Iron Guard Leader’s Badge
In silver, center in gilt, 51mm x 51mm, of multi piece construction, very well made (unmarked, but possible maker is Resch, Bucharest), in slightly worn condition, and very rare. Footnote: Iron Guard (Romanian: Garda de fier) is the name most commonly given to a far-right movement and political party in Romania active from around 1927 into the early part of World War II. The Iron Guard was ultra-nationalist, anti-communist, and similar in aims and nature to German Nationalist Socialist (NSDAP) Party; iron guard also actively promoted the Orthodox Christian faith.
