Three-piece construction, in silvered and gilt bronze alloy, obverse illustrating the monogram of Carol II (reign: 1930-1940) on the chest of a spread-winged eagle, a ribbon banner below inscribed "CERCETASII DIN RASBOIUL", backed by the Scout insignia bearing crossed swords and inscribed "1916 / 1919" on the bottom petal, reverse maker marked "CERBU" and marked "No. 53", measuring 45.5 mm (w) x 78 mm (h), vertical pinback, very light contact, near extremely fine.
Footnote: Inspired by the scouts from Great Britain, who had been at war since 1914, on the date of Romania's exit from neutrality (August 1916), the Romanian scouts organized themselves in the "Corps of War Scouts", being classified as paramedics, stretchers, couriers, telephone operators, postmen and other specializations. Through their sustained efforts, the scouts managed to free a significant surplus of fighters for the frontline and helped maintain vital activities behind the front throughout the hostilities. In recognition of this role, in 1928 the "Association of Scouts of the War 1916-1919" was established.
