Of fine quality manufacture with red, white, light blue and black enamelled shield fronting a bronze gilt eagle insignia, mounted to a silvered bronze with red, white and green enamelled base, measuring 49.5 mm (w) x 78.2 mm (h), vertical pinback, chipping evident in the red enamels on one berry on the wreath, otherwise the enamels are intact, extremely fine.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960.
