In bronze gilt with blue enamels, crowned cypher of Ferdinand I on the obverse, dated "1916" on the reverse, measuring 39.8 mm (w) x 55.7 mm (h) inclusive of its crown and laterally-pierced ball suspension, minor chipping in the blue enamels on both sides, original ribbon with hook and eye, near extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, crowned cypher of Ferdinand I on the lid, maker marked "Joseph Resch Fîî Bucharest" on the white embroidered inside lid, gray embroidered medal bed, light wear on the exterior, case also near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of Michael the Brave was instituted on September 26, 1916. It was awarded to officers for exceptional deeds on the battlefield, in three grades: I Class (Breast Star), 2nd Class (Commander) and 3rd Class (Knight).
